THE L&WRP, JR. VOICES OF PRAISE
As members of the Bethuel Temple Youth choir began to go in different directions and remaining members had not been actively serving in the choir, the Lord moved Sister Pamella Palmer to start another young people’s choir. The group consisted of old members and new members who had recently joined the church and were on fire for the Lord. Wanting this to be a surprise to their pastor, secret rehearsals were held. Members were excited and couldn’t wait to begin rehearsing.
In February of 1985 rehearsals began and continued until the group felt secure enough to perform. Security would not come from their ability and talent alone, but from God’s ANOINTING. It was not long before they were ready for their first performance because they had already been taught by the best, a master of music in his own right, Bishop William R. Palmer Jr. their pastor.
Most of the members had been baptized according to Acts 2:38 and had received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. During their first performance “they took the house up” and the “Holy Ghost came down”! Over the years members have come and gone, many trials, tribulations and disappointments have be experienced but this God fearing group continues to sing and lift up the name of JESUS for his mighty acts.
Desiring to honor their spiritual leader, the Bethuel Temple Youth choir changed their name to the WRP Jr. Voices of Praise. They were selected by their pastor to accompany him on all his speaking engagements.
But something was missing and the choir recognized that in God’s divine plan he made man a help meat--Genesis 2:21-2, and the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; and the rib which the Lord God had taken from man made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called WOMAN, because she was taken out of man.
The WRP Jr. Voices of Praise was renamed, the L&WRP Jr. Voices of Praise to include and honor our spiritual mother, Mother Lerah Palmer who is steadfast in her labor of love to her natural and spiritual children.
This group was organized by Pamella Terressa Palmer, born Friday, November 13, 1959 to Bishop William R. Palmer Jr. and Mother Lerah Palmer; the second of 14 children. She was baptized on Easter Sunday, April 1965 at the age of 6 years old and received the Holy Ghost on a Monday afternoon in February 1966 at the age of 7 years old.
Sister Palmer has remained in the church serving under her father, the late Apostle William R. Palmer, Jr. and has held many of offices in the church. She is the Mistress of Music for the Bethuel Temple Churches of Christ Apostolic, Inc.
